Description:
Help me celebrate my birthday by joining me for a hike that will be much kinder, gentler and closer to home than what I had originally announced; seems there's still way too much snow on the ground out in the hinterlands, so we'll try the tough Massanutten Mountain climb I had envisioned for March 6 some other day. Instead, I'd like to play tour guide for you as we march through Washington's Monumental Core from Arlington Cemetery through the Mall to the Capitol, eventually winding up around Eastern Market. You're invited to join me for a celebratory lunch near Eastern Market at the end of our excursion. Total length of this easy and mostly level one-way urban hike is under 5 miles. Bring beverages, a snack and the $2 trip fee. Meet at 10 a.m. inside the Arlington Cemetery Metro Station by the attendant's kiosk.
