Events: Hiking Winter

Description:

This year’s joint Chrysalis/Adventuring expedition to Antietam near Sharpsburg, MD will focus on the southern portion of the battlefield, where the star attraction is undoubtedly the picturesque Burnside Bridge. We’ll be walking on mostly level but probably snow-covered or icy trails to pivotal spots where the horrific fighting between Yankees and Confederates came to an abrupt conclusion on the afternoon of September 17, 1862. Total length of this easy and scenic walking tour should not exceed 6 miles, with several modest hills. We’ll carpool at 9 a.m. from the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro Station. Bring beverages, lunch, mud-worthy boots, and about $15 for admission, transportation and trip fees. Contact Craig to enlist, especially if you can be a driver.
